Pumpkins here, pumpkins there, pumpkins everywhere! Even in the south where trees don’t have the vivid hues of their northern counterparts, bright orange pumpkin patches and pumpkins in stores bring fall to us all.

To celebrate the season, here is a playdate plan for children and mamas alike to delight in the fun and yummy bites pumpkins bring.

Week before

  • Decorate
  • Check recipes and pantry for staple ingredients
  • Select and prepare all serving supplies (bowls, cups, plates, napkins etc)
  • Buy groceries

Two Days Before

  • Make pumpkin hummus
  • Make and bake Pumpkin Sugar Cookies

Day Before

  • Decorate Pumpkin Sugar Cookies
  • Cut up veggie sticks

Day Off

  • Set up playdough area and games
  • Prep Jack O Lantern Quesadillas on baking sheet
  • Set up drink and food area

An Hour Before Guests Arrive

  • Prepare water pitcher(s) with orange slices and cranberries
  • Set out Pumpkin Hummus with veggie sticks
  • Set out cookie tray
